Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs)

Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs), often referred to as IBC Totes, IBC Tanks, or IBC Pallet-Tanks, are designed for transport and storage of hazardous or non-hazardous liquids, solids, pastes, gels, etc., rated up to 1.9 specific gravity. Rigid IBC containers are engineered from High-Density Polyethylene, with an integrated pallet base mount and a protective galvanized-steel cage. They are stackable, and are commonly available in 275 or 330 US Gallon capacities, representing a high-capacity alternative to traditional steel or plastic barrels / drums.

Harbison Brothers specializes in obtaining lightly-used 275 & 330 Gallon Rigid IBC Totes and fully reconditioning them for re-use. Our IBC Tote Reconditioning Process includes thorough cleaning & de-contamination, physical inspection, and certification according to UN/DOT 31HA1/Y permitting and inspection requirements. Each reconditioned IBC Tote is approved for packing Group II and III, hazardous and non-hazardous materials.

The internal 275 Gallon & 330 Gallon IBC poly liners are blow-mold manufactured from virgin High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) that is originally ANSI / NSF 61 certified. However, according to federal regulations, reconditioned poly totes cannot and should not be used for potable water systems or drinking water applications. Sunlight UV inhibiting compounds are included in the plastic tote’s fabrication, increasing the IBC’s ability for long-term outdoor service.

HB Reconditioned 275 Gallon Poly Totes measure 48x40x46in, and 330 Gallon Totes measure 48x40x53in (LxWxH), close to standard pallet areal dimensions of 48x42in. For handling, they have 4-way forklift/pallet jack access, feature an easy-to-integrate cubical design, 6in top fill port, and 2in NPT male quick connect discharge valve.

These IBC Totes are often utilized as drum-pallet replacements, due to the superior shipping volume density that stems from the IBC’s space-saving cubical design. Each 275 Gallon IBC Tote can replace 5 drums (that would require 1.25 pallets) and 330 Gallon Totes can replace 6 drums (requiring 1.5 pallets), significantly increasing storage efficiency in your facility
